I think I just might have overindulged at the sushi all-you-can-eat tonight. But it was sooooo delicious I just couldn't stop. Thank god I can sleep late tomorrow.

I don't have any fixed plans for the weekend. Just hanging around. If I'm lucky I'll be able to scrape together enough enthusiasm to finally go take a look at some wardrobes and couches. My apartment is still embarassingly empty and bare even though I've been living here for a year now...

Furniture shopping just sucks. *sighs*

It's been a while since I did this. :)

Is it just me, or has there been a veritable surge of people switching to Dreamwidth in the last few days? I'm happy most of them say they aren't jumping ship, they just use it as a back-up so to speak. Still, what's going on over there that has people signing up in masses?

I don't live under a rock, but I seem to have missed something big.

Fic!! It's been a long time since I wrote anything substantial so I am really glad to post this. The idea came to me last night while standing on the terrace watching the fireworks.

Yesterday afternoon our heating system malfuntioned - read: it stopped working.
The heating engineer came, repairing it in the evening and promptly a few hours after that the radiators went cold again. Since then the temperatures in the house have dropped to 17,5 degrees (Celsius). *huddles under blanket*

Someone is scheduled to come over sometime this afternoon to look at it.

Why does this stuff only ever happen in the middle of winter?
I can't even take a hot bath because the water's only luke warm.
*drinks hot cocoa and thinks warm thoughts*

How comes that when the recipe says 15 minutes at 200 degrees my cookies are burned to crisp approaching charcoal within 10 minutes?

The second batch didn't come out much better, even though I checked every two minutes. The edges are singed and the cookies too crunchy for shortcrust cookies...This never happened when baking cookies at home with my mom and sister. Or perhaps I have been spoiled for cookies other than the ones they make. :-(

I've given up now. What's left of the dough will probably wander into my stomach unbaked.

On a happier note, the washing machine works and I put the first load in earlier today.

Today was a mess. And I've decided that I will never buy (or let someone buy me) a washing machine again. At least not without transport *into* my apartment and assembly as terms of delivery.

I have good news. As of 1 February this year I'm employed. My first real job. :)

Since finishing my training last summer I've been looking for a job, which proved to be harder than I thought. It was starting to worry me. Now I work for a lawyer firm as a language secretary. I had to move to Frankfurt, unfortunately, but otherwise I am really happy about this development.

My colleagues are all very nice and I think I'm gonna be happy there.

This also means that I won't be able to access the internet as frequently as I did before. For one because the connection is very slow at my friend's friend's house, where I live for now, and because my computer is still at home and I'm borrowing the one here for a few minutes a day. I can barely think about all the good fics and stuff which I'm going to miss due to my sporadic presence...:( I'm already going through fic withdrawal.

As I write most of my stories on paper before typing them onto the computer anyway, I can continue writing fanfiction. Posting them will be a bit more difficult though. Perhaps focusing on writing is possible now, because I won't be distracted by reading fics all the time... :P

Hopefully I can get my own computer transported to Frankfurt next week, when I'm going home for my sister's birthday party. (Her birthday is today, so: Happy Birthday, sis! You probably won't read this, but I wish you all the best, health and unending happiness.)
